BEIJING, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Television actor Jaycee Chan, the son of kung fu star Jackie Chang, was reportedly arrested on drug-related charges in Beijing last week.

Chang, who is also known as Fang Zuming, was arrested with his friend, Taiwanese actor Kai Ko Chen-tung. According to South China Morning Post, the actors' detention is related to Beijing's active campaign to end celebrity drug use in China. If convicted Chang and Chen-tung could face criminal charges.

It is not yet clear when the two actors were detained, but neither has made any updates on their social media accounts since Tuesday.

The Chinese government's zero-tolerance policy against illegal substances began around two years ago and has sent several Hong Kong and Taiwan-based celebrities behind bars. Earlier this month the Beijing Trade Association for Performances and 42 performing art agencies signed a document promising not to hire any actors connected with drug use
