LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- 10 Things I Hate About You star Andrew Keegan started his own religion, Full Circle.

The 35-year-old actor is best known for portraying Joey Donner in the 1999 teen comedy, and detailed the religion in a recent interview with Vice. Followers consider Full Circle an "advanced" form of spiritualism, and focus their energy on "activated peace."

Keegan founded the movement in 2011 after he and two friends were attacked in Venice Beach. The attack took place around the same time as the Tohoku tsunami in Japan, and the actor said the "synchronicity" of the events helped him realize his true calling.

"Synchronicity. Time. That's what it's all about," he said of the church's name. "Whatever the past, some other time. It's a circle; in the center is now. That's what it's about."

"Cosmic energy" and ayahuasca play into the religion's "spiritualism founded on universal knowledge." Members seek "to promote the individual becoming truly themselves outside of defined boundaries," and feelings of love, crystals, "alignment" and "resonance" through water help believers to "take the war out of our story, which is essentially peace, but activated peace."

The Full Circle website declares the religion "a co-creative collective" focused on "activating a next-level human experience." It is also a "a conscious social movement...designed to creatively expand consciousness through visual and performing arts, movement classes, workshops, forums and healing therapies."

Keegan last appeared as Nick in April Rain in June. The actor is scheduled to appear as Adam in new web series Gridlocked on September 1.
