LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Ariana Grande believes one of her former flames cheated on her with a man.

The 21-year-old singer detailed the experience in an interview with Metro published Wednesday. Grande's song "Break Your Heart Right Back" tells the story of a girl whose boyfriend cheats on her with a boy, and the star said she is almost certain the situation has happened to her before.

"It's one of my favorites on the album and it's really funny because I believe it has happened to me. I'm not 100 percent positive, but I'm 99.9 percent positive," she shared. "I would rather he cheats on me with a guy than a girl any day! If I found out my boyfriend was gay, I would be like, 'OK!' I'd be so relieved."

Fans immediately began speculating which ex-boyfriend Grande referred to, but the singer clarified the person is not necessarily someone she was in a steady relationship with.

"People loooove twisting my words lol. I never said 'my ex.' so don't trip," she tweeted. "It was a looooong time ago.... and it made for a great song. just thought I'd clear that up before any unnecessary drama takes place haha."

Grande will release her second studio album, My Everything, on August 22. "Break Your Heart Right Back" is the eighth track on the record, and features Childish Gambino and a sample of Diana Ross hit "I'm Coming Out."
