LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Cast members of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton were shaken up when a drive-by shooting occurred near the set while the film was shooting by the Compton Courthouse in Los Angeles.

TMZ reports the gunfire broke out after neighborhood residents near the set began flashing gang signs. Someone in a passing car apparently took exception to the gestures and opened fire.

No one involved with the movie was hit and the movie will continue filming this week "in a rough area of Compton."

One civilian was shot, but survived.

Even though original N.W.A. member Ice Cube likely wants the biopic to be realistic, incidents like this might hit a little too close to home.

"I'm totally involved, I'm engulfed in it," Ice Cube told MTV News. "This is our legacy, you can't play with this, there's no cutting corners. I'm fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right."

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is still investigating the incident and attempting to determine if the shooting was gang-related.
