LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Once a captain, always a captain.

That's apparently one of the rules NASA lives by, still bestowing the title to everyone's favorite Star Trek captain, Capt. James T. Kirk.

William Shatner, the actor who played the daring and confident Capt. Kirk of the USS Enterprise, tweeted the U.S. space agency on Saturday just to say "what's up?"

"How is @Nasa doing today?" Shatner asked.

And NASA responded.

"Good day, Captain. #ISS (International Space Station) is in standard orbit and Commander Swanson has the conn. Hope you're having a great weekend!" NASA said.

Nice to see the former space captain is still on good terms with the big guys.
