LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Gwen Stefani has recruited husband Gavin Rossdale for The Voice.

The 44-year-old No Doubt singer will make her debut as coach with Rossdale by her side. The 48-year-old Bush frontman will act as a mentor to Stefani's team.

"This fall, honored to be a part of The Voice w/ the lovely & talented @gwenstefani," the musician announced Monday on Twitter.

"It's official!" Stefani tweeted later. "So excited to have @GavinRossdale on #TeamGwen."

Stefani has been tapped to temporarily replace coach Christina Aguilera, who is on break to welcome her first child with fiancé Matthew Rutler. The Stefani-Rossdale team is not the first time a husband and wife have collaborated on the program; Miranda Lambert previously acted as mentor to husband Blake Shelton's team in the show's second season.

"The main thing, from my perspective, is just to make sure that Gwen is so good and excellent like all the other judges on the show," Rossdale told Access Hollywood this week. "It's just sort of to not interrupt and to normally let her speak, let her do her thing."

"He is super articulate and he has a really good opinion, and he is smart and he's been doing a really good job," Stefani lauded of her husband. She, Rossdale and coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams began taking auditions this week.

The seventh season of The Voice premieres September 22 on NBC.
