WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., July 8 (UPI) -- Weeks after Melanie Griffith covered her "Antonio" tattoo with makeup for a red carpet appearance, the actress has decided to remove her ink permanently.

Griffith, 56, was recently spotted at a skin clinic in West Hollywood where she presumably sought treatment to erase the name "Antonio" from the heart tattoo on her right arm.

The Working Girl actress filed for divorce from Antonio Banderas in June after 18 years of marriage citing "irreconcilable differences." Days after TMZ broke the news about the split, Griffith covered the tattoo with makeup while attending the Taormina Film Festival in Italy.
