HOUSTON, July 4 (UPI) -- Russell Neal has been charged with murder following his arrest earlier this week.

The former chart-topping Hi-Five singer is accused of killing his wife, Catherine Martinez. Neal reportedly walked into a Harris County police station Wednesday and calmly informed officers that Martinez was dead in their Houston apartment.

Police found the 24-year old fitness model dead of multiple stab wounds in the couple's home. Neal told detectives he and his wife had argued, but refused to answer further questions. Neighbor Keenan Shufford suggested to ABC 13 News that the murder was "a crime of passion."

Neal, who had the No. 1 "I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)" with Hi-Five in 1991, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The couple had two young children, who are said to be staying with family and friends.

"They seem[ed] like a happy couple," neighbor Raymond Bastiste told KHOU News. "It's a shock."
