NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Mario Diaz, a local news reporter for New York City's WPIX, was standing on a street in Manhattan during his live coverage of Shia LaBeouf's recent arrest when a woman in a large white hat tried to kiss him on the cheek.
"Excuse me," Diaz said, barely missing a beat of his broadcast. He pushed her away with his hand and brought the incident back to his report.

LaBoeuf "had been able to avoid the cameras," Diaz said, "unlike myself, who could't avoid a fan just now who tried to kiss me."
The "fan" turned out to be singer Erykah Badu.
Badu confirmed subsequent reports that she was the woman in the hat in a Twitter apology to Diaz.
