RECIFE, Brazil, June 26 (UPI) -- Will Ferrell promised to "bite every German player if [he has] to" during a surprise appearance at a United States Men's National Soccer Team fan meeting in Recife, Brazil ahead of the team's World Cup game against Germany on Thursday.

The 46-year-old funny man was accompanied by Teddy Goalsevelt -- an American man dressed as former President Roosevelt, who has become a viral sensation for making appearances at World Cup games in costume.

Ferrell's biting comments are in reference to Uruguay forward Luis Suarez, who made headlines earlier this week for biting the shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during Tuesday's World Cup match.

FIFA opened a disciplinary proceeding against Suarez on Wednesday asking the Uruguayan team to show evidence and their position in the player's conduct before the team's upcoming match against Colombia on Saturday.
