NEW YORK, June 24 (UPI) -- Handwritten lyrics for Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" sold for $2 million at a Sotheby's auction in New York on Tuesday.

Dylan wrote the 1965 classic, dubbed Rolling Stone magazine's Greatest Song of All Time, on four pages of hotel stationary.

Sotheby's did not reveal the name of the lyrics' new owner. The California man who put the lyrics up for auction was described as someone "who met his hero in a non-rock context and bought [the lyrics] directly from Dylan."

The auction was part of a collection called "Rock and Roll History: From Presley to Punk.", which included a Jimmy Hendrix contract, John Lennon's piano and Elvis Presley's peacock jumpsuit.
