PYONGYANG, North Korea, June 23 (UPI) -- Kim Jong Un condemned Hollywood stars James Franco and Seth Rogen for their involvement in a film about killing North Korea's leader.

A statement released by a North Korea's executive director of the Centre for North Korea-US Peace, Kim Myong-chol, said that "there is a special irony in [The Interview's] storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society."

"A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. And let us not forget who killed Kennedy -- Americans," he added.

In The Interview Franco and Rogen play a talk show host and a producer who are asked by a CIA agent to assassinate Jong Un after managing to get an interview with him.

Myong-chol said in his statement that North Korea's "Supreme Leader" will likely watch the movie in spite of the story line, but not before adding that U.S. "President [Barack] Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well."

The Interview, was co-written and co-directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film will be released October 10, 2014.
