LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) -- Think Like a Man Too, the sequel to the 2012 ensemble comedy based on Steve Harvey's best-selling advice book, narrowly beat out another Sony sequel, 22 Jump Street, at the weekend box office.

The film, starring Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Michael Ealy, Meagan Good and Adam Brody, earned $30 million in its opening weekend, despite poor reviews, thanks in large part to Hart's star power. It opened several million dollars shy of its predecessor, Think Like a Man, which pulled $33.6 million in its opening weekend.

Last week's winner, 22 Jump Street, just missed out on No. 1 with $29 million. How to Train Your Dragon 2 took third place, with $25.3 million.

Clint Eastwood's Jersey Boys, a screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, opened in fourth place with a disappointing $13.5 million.

Maleficent settled in fifth place with $13 million, bringing its domestic total to $186 million.
