LONDON, June 19 (UPI) -- Harrison Ford is recovering from surgery following the injury he sustained on the set of Star Wars on June 12.
Spokeswoman Ina Treciokas said in a statement Thursday that Ford's "left leg was broken in an accident."
"His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly," she added. "He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work."
Treciokas's comments come one week after news broke that the 77-year-old actor suffered an injury on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. While neither Disney nor the spokesperson provided any details on how the actor got injured, a source told the Hollywood Reporter the incident was caused by the door of the Millennium Falcon spacecraft.
The first statement issued by Disney claimed the actor had suffered and ankle injury and that he was airlifted to a hospital in London after the mishap. There is no word on how long it'll take Ford to get back in the studio.
The actor is set to reprise his role as Hans Solo in the seventh installment of the science fiction saga. Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
