LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Steve Martin took to Twitter on Monday to quash a report that he had signed on for Father of the Bride III.

"So excited to read I'm doing Father of the Bride 3 since I haven't seen a script or been offered the role!" Martin tweeted of the news.

Nikki Finke reported Monday that Martin, now 63, would reprise his role as George Banks, a nervous-but-devoted father dealing with the engagement, and subsequent pregnancy, of his beloved daughter.

The supposed third installment of the franchise would see George struggle to cope with the same-sex marriage of his son, Matty, to a Navy SEAL.
