Mariah Carey accused of tweeting 1997 photo as present-day selfie

Mariah Carey shared a misleadingly youthful photo of herself on Twitter last week.

LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- You can't fool the Internet.

Mariah Carey took to Twitter on Friday to share several photos of herself and her children, alongside the caption, "quality time with #dembabies.. so much happiness!!"



But several social-media sleuths pointed out that the 44-year-old singer's "selfie" first appeared on a 1997 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Photos of Carey's two children, 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, look more recent.

Buzzfeed tweeted at Carey for an explanation. They are still waiting for a response.
