The Maleficent actress received the honor as part of the queen's birthday honors.

Working on [Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative] and with survivors of rape is an honor in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine," Jolie said in reaction to the new title.
In addition to Jolie, actor Daniel Day-Lewis is set to receive a knighthood, actress Maggie Smith received the Campanion of Honor and Homeland star Damien Lewis was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
