NEW YORK, June 12 (UPI) -- Tracy Morgan is still recovering from the last Saturday's deadly six-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, when the 45-year-old's limo was hit by a Walmart truck.

But his representative offered a positive update on his condition Thursday.

"Today was a better day," Lewis Kay said in a statement. "While Tracy remains in critical, but stable, condition, he continues to show signs of improvement. His medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing."

Kay went on to say that Morgan, currently in intensive care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., is surrounded by his family.

"[His fiancee] Megan remains by his side and is relaying the countless good wishes and prayers that his family, friends and fans have been sending their way."

Kevin Roper, who was behind the wheel of the Walmart truck, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.

Authorities said Wednesday that he "failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead."
