Maria Sharapova named the new face of Avon's fragrance 'Luck'

NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- Tennis player Maria Sharapova has been named the new face of Avon's fragrance Luck just days after she won the French Open for the second time in her career.

"I am excited to represent Avon Luck, a fragrance that reminds us to savor and truly enjoy our triumphs," the 27-year-old Russian star said in a statement after Avon made the announcement on Wednesday.

"I always say the harder you work, the luckier you are because you strive for bigger goals. I love being able to partner with a company like Avon that empowers women around the world to accomplish their dreams," she continued.

Avon's new scent will be released in Europe in September and in the United Stated a month later. Avon Chief Marketing Officer Patricia Perez-Ayala said in a statement that the fragrance looks to "capture the intoxicating charisma of someone who created her own luck in life."

"As one of the top ranked tennis players worldwide, and a sophisticated natural beauty, Maria perfectly captures this sense of energy and possibility" added Perez Ayala.
