Brad Pitt addresses red carpet attack

LOS ANGELES, June 2 (UPI) -- Ukrainian media personality Vitalii Sediuk, who has made an unsettling career out of accosting celebrities at red-carpet events, attacked Brad Pitt at last week's Maleficent premiere.

Pitt was unharmed and Sediuk was sentenced to three years of probation and slapped with a restraining order. But the 50-year-old actor has said that Sediuk's "pranks" could have unintended consequences for fans.

Pitt described the incident on Monday, telling People in a statement that he was signing autographs when "the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch."

He added that Sediuk's actions could make celebrities more fearful of approaching fans.

"I don't mind an exhibitionist," Pitt said. "but if this guy keeps it up he's going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd. And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman's dress again, he's going to get stomped."
