LOS ANGELES, May 6 (UPI) -- Get ready for another extension of DC Comics' Batman franchise.

Gotham, billed as a Bruce Wayne origin story, stars Ben McKenzie (The O.C., Southland) as a young James Gordon, a detective who will one day become Gotham's police commissioner.

David Mazouz will play a young Bruce Wayne, whose parents are mugged and shot in the street.

Fox has ordered "at least" 13 episodes of the series, according to EW, set to debut this fall.

The show will feature a number of other characters familiar to fans of the comic books or Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Dark Knight Trilogy.

Watch the trailer for glimpses of a young Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, young Poison Ivy, the Riddler, Penguin and Detective Harvey Bullock. Jada Pinkett Smith plays a new character, Fish Mooney, described as a "sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner."
