Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcome their first child

Washington and Asomugha were married in June 2013.

LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha welcomed their first child in April.

The 37-year-old actress managed to keep the news secret until now. TMZ revealed Friday that Washington gave birth to daughter Isabella Amarachi on April 21.

The actress and Nnamdi Asomugha were married last June, and announced their pregnancy in October. Asomugha is a former NFL player who played for the Oakland Raiders from 2003-2010.

Washington had debuted her baby bump at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards.

"I have the best date of the night," she told reporters as she held her belly. "My little accessory."

The star currently portrays crisis manager Olivia Pope on Scandal. The series just finished its third season on ABC.
