NEW YORK, April 24 (UPI) -- Time magazine unveiled the cover of its annual "100 Most Influential People" issue on Thursday. Beyonce covers the issue donning a white bathing suit with a sheer top over it.

The piece on the 32-year-old performer was written by Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg, who praised Beyonce for "[raising] her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead."

Other celebrity nominees include English actor Benedict Cumberbatch, Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, Scandal star Kerry Washington, Academy Award nominees Amy Adams and Pharrell Williams and pop star Miley Cyrus.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul, Pope Francis, President Barack Obama, first openly gay NBA star Jason Collins and Pulitzer Prize winner Donna Tart also made the list.
