LAS VEGAS, April 23 (UPI) -- George Clooney and Steve Wynn have addressed their recent altercation over President Obama.

The 52-year-old actor and 72-year-old hotel magnate issued statements to the Las Vegas Review-Journal Tuesday that presented different accounts of the incident. The pair had met for dinner earlier in April and got into a heated exchange that ended when Clooney stormed out. The actor reportedly left the table after Wynn insulted President Obama.

"Steve likes to go on rants," Clooney says in an e-mail sent by his publicist. "He called the president an [expletive]hole... I said the president was my longtime friend and then he said 'Your friend is an [expletive]hole.'"

"At that point I told Steve that HE was an [expletive]hole and I wasn't going to sit at his table while he was being such a jack[expletive]," the actor continues. "And I walked out. There were obviously quite a few more adjectives and adverbs used by both of us... It had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with character."

"[Clooney] threw a hissy fit," Wynn himself says. "I think my [unfavorable] discussion about the Affordable Care Act was the straw that broke the camel's back. When he's drinking, he considers himself a close personal buddy of the president."

"The only person who got excited at the table was George," he adds. "Everybody who's in my business, the casino business, knows to take actors with a grain of salt."
