LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Lorde, who fronted Nirvana for the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last Thursday, is a 17-year-old with diverse tastes.
"Hilary Duff? Are you freaking serious? Hilary Duff was there last night? This is what dreams are made of! Was she vibing it? Was she bobbing her head?" Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, told the mag.
"This is the most insane thing that's ever happened to me," she added. "That's my childhood right there. Hilary Duff is a fan -- that freaks me out!"
Lorde, who covers the magazine's May issue, also discusses the pressures of fame, her new life in the spotlight and her unique fashion sense.
"There are a lot of expectations in this industry about looking a certain way and having a certain kind of appeal. I am feminine, but I really love dressing in boys’ clothes too. I guess that’s why I get labeled as ‘the grumpy girl,’ because I don’t play into that," she said.
But Lorde has no objections to being a cover girl.
"So happy about this. teen vogue cover star yaaaaaaaw," she tweeted Tuesday.
