LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Demi Lovato wants her fans to fight hate with love when it comes to mean tweets.

The 21-year-old singer took to Twitter Tuesday to share an anti-bullying message with her 21.8 million followers.

"Dear haters, you don't have to like me cause I love you. Everyone's equal, everyone has a soul and everyone deserves to be loved," Lovato wrote.

"Dear Lovatics, for every hater tweet - don't respond with hate but love and positivity.. Try love instead of combat," she continued.

Later, the "Heart Attack" singer led by example and retweeted a response to a post from Twitter user @jonasoreos in which user @yoyocunt called Lovato "fatty."

Lovato's pro-love message comes a week after several photos featuring her naked and in bed with ex-beau Wilmer Vanderrama were leaked online. At the time, Lovato took to Twitter to tell her fans she was "strong" and a "fighter."
