LOS ANGELES, April 15 (UPI) -- Christina Hendricks shared health tips and discussed children in a recent interview with Health magazine.

The 38-year-old Mad Men actress spoke to the magazine for their May issue, and also appears on the cover. She says she uses an elliptical machine and weights to stay fit, and always sleeps better after she exercises. Hendricks avoids carbs, starches and sugars, and she loves to use greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream or crème fraîche.

"I love cooking for my friends," the star says. "It's nice to give them something homemade that your heart went into. That's when my motherly nature comes in -- we got a puppy, and that's my idea of starting a family."

Hendricks and husband Geoffrey Arend have been married since 2009, and the actress is perfectly content with their family of three.

"We've decided that we are not really interested in having children," she says. "It seems like it's expected that you'd want to have kids... It doesn't bother me, though. And you know, there's a small chance I could change my mind."

"I've never been that person who had a plan," Hendricks continues. "I sometimes get anxious about work or have fear of the unknown, but I try not to let it eat away at me. I turn to the people who are close to me and talk it out."
