In Sunday's episode of the HBO fantasy series, the sadistic King Joffrey Baratheon met his end with what appeared to be poison at his own wedding -- the so-called Purple Wedding.
The death was gruesome and perhaps a bit unexpected -- like any good Game of Thrones death -- but this time, the culprit wasn't quite so clear.
Was it Sansa Lannister, nee Stark, who has every reason to hate Joffrey for ordering the death of her father? Or perhaps her husband, and Joffrey's uncle, Tyrion Lannister, who was belittled by his nephew a mere moments before the young man's death?
It could have been one of the Tyrells, the family to whom Joffrey was just married into. Could it even have been his own mother, Cersei Baratheon, who so clearly wants control of the iron throne herself?
The culprit is sure to be revealed in an upcoming episode, but so far George R.R. Martin, the writer of the novels upon which the series is based, isn't letting it slip. He did, however, appear to take delight in the Purple Wedding scene, if his Twitter posts have anything to say about it.
