INDIO, Calif., April 13 (UPI) -- Andre 3000 and Big Boi reunited for the first time as Outkast in years Friday as headliners of the Coachella festival in California.

Critics agreed that while it was an important return to the stage for Outkast, the performance was lacking.

"This was their first performance back, and at times, it felt that way. The highs of Outkast's Coachella performance were live-music apexes that few can reach, but there were missteps, edges that hopefully will be sanded over time, as the pair's summer-festival takeover moves from city to city," wrote Billboard reviewer Jason Lipshutz.

"The show was far from flawless. There were audio and visual glitches that marred several songs. Future’s cameo instantly spiked the energy, but quickly lagged when he started running through unheard songs from his upcoming album. Before they could bring out Killer Mike for a final cameo, the Coachella organizers cut off their sound due to curfew," wrote the Entertainment Weekly staff.
The duo performed hits B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad) and Hey Ya, and even welcomed Janelle Monae and Sleepy Brown onstage.
