LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez no longer wants to be represented by her mother and stepfather.

According to TMZ, the 21-year-old starlet fired her parents Mandy and Brian Teefey as her managers last month and is looking for a "seasoned professional" to take over her career. The Teefeys have been managing Gomez's career since she got her big break at Disney with Wizards of Waverly Place.

Sources claim that the "Come and Get It" singer has had several disagreements with her parents regarding the direction of her career and her relationship with troubled pop star Justin Bieber. However, insiders say the friction between them was not the reason for the split.

While the singer's parents are not happy with the decision, they reportedly remain close to her despite it all.
