BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 10 (UPI) -- Chris Martin was in cheerful spirits when he inducted rock legend Peter Gabriel into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night, despite his very public split from wife Gwyneth Paltrow and cheating allegations.
The Coldplay singer appeared without his wedding ring, telling the audience that he "could't be more thrilled" to introduce Gabriel.
His tribute borrowed from the "book of Genesis," a play on Gabriel's previous work with Phil Collins' band.
"An angel of the Lord descended and appeared to Phil the Collins," Martin said, referring to the angel Gabriel.
Before joining Gabriel for a performance of "Washing of the Water," Martin also referenced the singer's cinematic contributions.
"He's a curator and an inspirer, and he helped John Cusack get his girlfriend back in Say Anything," Martin added.
Meanwhile, photographers spotted Paltrow in Los Angeles still wearing her wedding band, amid reports that she and her estranged husband are still acting like a couple.
"They have been spending some nights together still and are both still living at the same house in LA," a source told E! News. "It's kind of crazy how amicable this whole thing is. It's really interesting to spend time with them because there is no awkwardness at all. It's the oddest thing, they are acting as if they are still together."
