NEW YORK, April 9 (UPI) -- Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters have prompted speculation that Joan Jett will perform alongside Nirvana's surviving members when the legendary rock band is inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday.

A photo posted to Foo Fighter's Instagram account features Dave Grohl's drumkit, Krist Novoselic’s bass and Pat Smear's Strat and what bloggers have identified as Jett's Melody Maker.

Though Jett doesn't have any connection to Nirvana or Kurt Cobain, she has played with Grohl in the past.

Former R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe will induct Nirvana into the Hall of Fame at Thursday's ceremony, which will also honor Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall and John Oates, KISS, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Brian Epstein and Andrew Loog Oldham.
