DeBlois himself hosts the video, and says the sequel will take place five years after the original movie. How to Train Your Dragon debuted in 2010, and its story about the viking Hiccup and his dragon, Toothless, was an instant success.
"Hiccup and the gang are now 19 and 20-year-olds," the director says. "It's all about unbridled freedom. We have all kinds of new dragons to show the audience ... some really surprising ones as well."
"This film is a journey of discoveries," he continues. "Realizing that what you perceive as your weaknesses can actually be strengths. I think that touches everybody in all walks of life."
How to Train Your Dragon 2 will follow Hiccup, Toothless and their friends as they explore and discover new dragons and cultures. The new movie debuts in theaters on June 13.
