NOVATO, Calif., April 9 (UPI) -- 2K Games, Inc. officially announced its Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel video game on Tuesday.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel joins previous series titles Borderlands and Borderlands 2. The new game will be set in a time period between the two, and will take place on Pandora's moon.

Players will be able to choose between four new characters -- Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer and Claptrap the Fragtrap -- to play alongside Borderland 2's Handsome Jack. The characters have all been mentioned or appeared in previous Borderlands games, and will witness Handsome Jack's transformation into a villain.

2K boasts that the new game will feature "low-gravity combat, cool new guns and more gorgeous lunar vistas than you can shake a moon-boot at." The game will be available to play on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and will debut some time in the fall.
