LOS ANGELES, April 8 (UPI) -- Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore will be checking into A&E's Bates Motel for another season.

The network has renewed the drama, a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, for another 10 episodes, with filming to begin this fall.

"The incredible writing team and talented Bates Motel cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television," network vice president and general manager David McKillop said in a statement. "The brilliant twists and turns of the past two seasons keep its loyal fan base coming back for more. We are so proud of the show."

Execs are especially proud of the ratings. Bates Motel became A&E's highest-rated original drama in the coveted 18-49 demo when it premiered last year. The second-season premiere drew 4.6 million viewers last month.
