NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- Barbara Walters will make her final appearance as host on the talk show The View on May 16.

Her last day will be part of a daylong retirement celebration that will include ABC News naming their New York Headquarters after her and a 2-hour prime-time special highlighting her 55-year-long career.

Walters, 84, will remain an executive producer and "pop in from time to time."
