'Goonies' sequel may finally happen

Director Richard Donner wants to bring back entire "Goonies" cast for a sequel.

LOS ANGELES, April 5 (UPI) -- Director Richard Donner said he plans to make a sequel to 1986 cult classic Goonies.

He said he wanted to bring back the entire original cast of the film -- which starred Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton, Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman -- but didn't know if it would star the gang or just feature them in cameo roles.

During an interview last year, Astin had the same positive response when asked if there would ever be a Goonies sequel.

“It will happen,” he said. “I’m 1000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it.”
