PLYMOUTH, Mass., April 3 (UPI) -- Gai Scott, 36, the nephew of rapper Benzino, was being held without bail after being accused of shooting his uncle during a funeral procession Saturday.

Scott's attorneys insisted he acted in self-defense when he shot Benzino, whose real name is Raymond E. Scott, while en route to St. Peter's Church in Plymouth, Mass., for Benzino's mother's funeral.

Benzino said he pulled up alongside the procession when it was already in progress and then several shots were fired at his vehicle.

Scott was arrested on charges of armed assault with attempt to murder.

Scott told investigators his uncle pulled up alongside him, rolled down his window and said, "You got a problem with me?" The police report said Benzino then threatened to kill Scott and flashed a gun at him.

Scott pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday.

Meanwhile, Benzino's been hitting up Instagram with photos of himself in the hospital and even some rather graphic ones of his bullet wound.
