Al Roker and Matt Lauer will make cameos in 'Sharknado 2'

Al Roker and Matt Lauer will make cameo appearances in the upcoming film Sharknado 2.

The two Today show hosts filmed their scenes in New York on Tuesday and shared a sneak peek with their audience on Wednesday morning.

"Think of it this way... this is a twister with teeth," Roker says as a precursor to the clip. "Enough said."

The teaser clip shows Roker and Lauer in their usual NBC studio as Lauer stabs a green-wrapped bundle, presumably a future CGI shark, with an orange umbrella. His face is dirty, and the two hosts look a little bit worse for the wear from their encounter.

The original Sharknado film took place in Los Angeles, and followed the character Fin (Ian Ziering) and his family and friends after waterspouts flood L.A. and lift man-eating sharks into the the waters flooding the city.

Sharknado 2: The Second One will take place in New York. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will reprise their roles from the first film, and Vivica A. Fox, Kelly Osbourne and Judah Friedlander will join the cast. Other cameos in the film are rumored to include Andy Dick, Perez Hilton, Salt-N-Pepa's Sandra Denton, and Mark McGrath.

Sharknado 2 debuts on the SyFy channel July 30.
