March 31 (UPI) -- John Frusciante's new album, ENCLOSURE, is literally out of this world.

The former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist loaded the LP onto the experimental cube satellite Sat-JF14 on Saturday, and launched it into space onboard the Interorbital Systems' NEPTUNE modular rocket.

"This partnership with John Frusciante...represents a new chapter in our quest to further explore the cosmic relationships between science and art," Interorbital Systems CEO Randa Milliron says. "ENCLOSURE is a musical masterpiece and we're thrilled to be able to utilize our proprietary space technology to facilitate this unprecedented form of space-enhanced distribution."

Fans can listen to ENCLOSURE and track Sat-JF14's whereabouts via a free mobile app starting on Monday. The album preview will be available until April 7 at midnight, and ENCLOSURE will be released on disc and in digital form on April 8.
