March 31 (UPI) -- Bella Thorne looked stunning in a forest green Valentino jumpsuit and gold Louboutin shoes at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards Sunday, but that wasn't the outfit she intended to wear to the event.

While speaking to Us Weekly on the orange carpet, the 16-year-old Shake It Up star confessed that she had a "major wardrobe malfunction" before the event.

"I had to get my outfit approved, and it didn’t get approved so then this morning I picked this outfit," she said.

Apparently, Thorne's original ensemble clashed with the event's colorful backdrop.

"We thought maybe it wasn’t right for this," she explained. "And I didn’t think the color was going to look good on the background. You really have to be cautious on what the background is because it can really mess up your whole outfit."
