Comedian Joan Rivers made her first appearance as a guest on The Tonight Show in 28 years Thursday and commemorated the event with a piercing in a delicate place.

Rivers might have made host Jimmy Fallon blush a little bit when she said she had to sit on an inflatable doughnut because she was in pain due to a new genital piercing.

"It's very special for me to be back," she said. "So my girlfriend and i decided we would get matching vagina rings … to celebrate the moment."

But it sounds like the piercing may have just been a lead up to a joke.

"Mine is killing me, but apparently, I spoke to Bruce Jenner and hers is fine," she said.

Rivers was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show when Johnny Carson hosted it, but she was banned from the show in 1986 when she started up her own, short-lived competing late-night show, the New York Times reported.

After Carson's death, Jay Leno said he would have been happy to have Rivers on the show, but it never happened.
