Selena Gomez was served with legal papers as she exited a convenience store in Los Angeles Thursday.

While the content of the documents is still unclear there is speculation that she is being subpoenaed to testify in a lawsuit filed against her on-again off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber in relation to an alleged altercation with a paparazzo.

In the lawsuit, filed in June 2013, Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran claims Bieber "delivered a martial-arts type kick" his way and punched him "hard" on the right side of his face after the singer became frustrated with photographers for blocking his way out of a parking lot.

Duran claims that while Bieber was attacking him he said, "Justin, you don't have to do this," and put his hand up in "a submissive gesture."

The suit also claims that Gomez stepped out of the car at one point as said, "Justin, stop! They're taking your picture!"

The incident was investigated by police and the L.A. County District Attorney's Office decided not to press charges.
