Kevin Spacey is set to play Winston Churchill in the upcoming film Captain of the Gate.

The 54-year-old actor will exchange his role as devious House of Cards politician Francis Underwood for that of British prime minister and wartime leader Churchill.

Churchill was U.K. prime minister during WWII and served two separate terms: 1940-1945 and 1951-1955. The film will follow his life as he comes to power and faces Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany in defense of Britain.

Sierra Affinity will produce and finance the film for an estimated $20 million. No director has been chosen yet, but History Channel and documentary writer Ben Kaplan will write the screenplay.

No release date has been set for Captain of the Gate, but Spacey will next appear in Horrible Bosses 2 on November 26.
