March 20 (UPI) -- New York City's chief medical examiner has officially ruled L'Wren Scott's death a suicide, a department rep said Thursday, after the 47-year-old fashion designer was found dead in her New York apartment on Monday.

Scott's assistant found her hanging by a scarf from her doorknob.

Meanwhile, Scott's longtime boyfriend, Mick Jagger, flew to Los Angeles to be with his children, after the Rolling Stones postponed tour dates in Australia and New Zealand.

Jagger's rep said he joined his three of his seven children, Karis, Elizabeth and Georgia May, on the West Coast, with son David expected to arrive soon.

Together, they are said to be planning a memorial for the late designer.

"Privacy for him and his family during this very difficult time is requested," his rep said in a statement.

The 70-year-old rocker said in a statement on Tuesday that he was still coming to terms with Scott's death.

"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way," he said.

"She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," he added. "I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received."
