Games of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said last week that they're planning to end their hit HBO series after seven seasons. But that doesn't mean that the story will end on TV.

Games of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, who has yet to write books six and seven but consults on the TV show, told the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that big screen adaptations are a possibility.

"It all depends on how long the main series runs," he said. "Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger. It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."

Season four of Games of Thrones debuts April 17.
