March 18 (UPI) -- Disney has confirmed that sequels to The Incredibles and Cars are currently in the works.

The announcement was made Tuesday on the Disney Pixar official Facebook page. It has also been reported that Disney representatives and shareholders discussed the projects during a conference call the same day.

News had come just a day before that The Incredibles will be re-released in theaters in 3D. The film debuted in theaters in 2004, and was a hit with critics and audiences alike.

Cars was also a huge success for the Disney Pixar team. The film was released in 2006, and a sequel, Cars 2, debuted in 2011.

Exact details on the upcoming films are unknown, but it has been confirmed that The Incredibles director Brad Bird will return to work on the sequel.
