Mel Tillis released from hospital after heart surgery

Mel Tillis had a routine heart procedure and spent a week in the hospital in Nashville.

Country legend Mel Tillis is back at home recovering after having heart surgery and spending a week in the hospital in Nashville.

Tillis had a routine heart procedure last week at the TriStar Centennial Heart & Vascular Center.

"Dad is doing great and is happy to be leaving the hospital in time to catch today's Florida vs. Missouri game," his daughter and fellow country music singer Pam Tillis said in a statement.

Tillis is set to release new music and return to touring later this year.
