Demi Lovato's Neon Lights tour touched down in New York on Tuesday night, and her performance inspired plenty of reaction from her fans.

The 21-year-old singer took the stage in front of thousands of fans at Nassau Coliseum, despite having tweeted that she was ill earlier in the night. An MTV reporter present at the concert says Lovato's vocals were on par throughout her performance and that it was not readily apparent the singer was sick.

Fans didn't seem to notice either as they alternately cried, laughed, and hugged each other during the concert. Teenage girls clutched and consoled one another during sad moments, threw bras and trucker hats onstage, and put their middle fingers up when Lovato sang, "I'll walk right up to you and put one finger in the air," during her performance of "Really Don't Care."

Lovato made many emotional connections with her fans throughout the concert, and opened up to the audience at several points during her performance. One such incident was when the singer confided that she had been at the Coliseum last summer when she received the news that her father had died.

She proceeded to give a stirring rendition of "Nightingale," and fans were brought to tears again two songs later with an emotional performance of "Warrior." Lovato was also open about her recent trip to rehab.

Neon Lights has eleven more stops in North America before the tour heads abroad. Lovato's next stop is Auburn Hills, Michigan on Thursday night.
