Katie Holmes is returning to TV in her first starring role since Dawson's Creek.

The 35-year-old actress will play Ann, an "Audrey Hepburn-esque" socialite, in an untitled ABC drama created by Richard LaGravenese. The show takes place in New York City and will focus on the revelation of a lie that will "destroy" Ann's "perfect marriage." Rufus Sewell will co-star as Philip.

The series is set to be penned by LaGravenese (of P.S. I Love You fame) and will be executive produced by Erwin Stoff, Ilene Staple and Wren Arthur and LaGravenese. Taylor Hackford will direct the pilot.

Other than her starring role as Dawson's Creek's Joey Potter, Holmes is best known for her work in films like Batman Begins, Wonder Boys and Pieces of April. She's also made a few cameos on TV's How I Met Your Mother, The Kennedys and Eli Stone.
